{"id":6295,"date":"2018-07-31T00:14:07","date_gmt":"2018-07-30T22:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/?p=6295"},"modified":"2019-05-28T20:58:44","modified_gmt":"2019-05-28T18:58:44","slug":"strong-participation-of-the-bcsss-at-the-isss2018-62nd-annual-meeting-of-the-international-society-for-the-systems-science","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/de\/2018\/strong-participation-of-the-bcsss-at-the-isss2018-62nd-annual-meeting-of-the-international-society-for-the-systems-science\/","title":{"rendered":"Strong Participation of the BCSSS at the #ISSS2018 \u2013 62nd Annual Meeting of the International Society for the Systems Science"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The BCSSS was strongly represented at the #ISSS2018 \u2013 62<sup>nd<\/sup> Annual Meeting of the International Society for the Systems Science, which took place at the College of Engineering of the Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, United States from 22nd to 27th of July 2018.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.systemsphilosophy.org\/david-rousseau.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Rousseau<\/a>, the current President of the <a href=\"http:\/\/isss.org\/world\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ISSS<\/a> is a member of the Scientific Council of the BCSSS and leader of the BCSSS Research Group on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/research\/fields-and-groups\/systems-science-and-philosophy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Systems Science and Philosophy<\/a>. At #ISSS2018 he outlined a vision for, and discussed progress towards, collaboration and integration across the fields of general systems science, complexity science, specialised systems disciplines and systems engineering. He argued that such convergence is essential if we are to effectively meet the social challenges resulting from political and ecological instability and the emergence of the fourth industrial revolution.<\/p>\n<p>David held a Chair at several sessions on \u201cSystems Philosophy\u201d and \u201cResearch Toward a General Theory of Systems\u201d. Together with Julie Billingham he presented \u201cA Systematic Worldview Model and its Generalization as a General Inquiry Framework\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the president of the BCSSS <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexander_Laszlo_(scientist)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexander Laszlo<\/a>, former president of the ISSS in 2012 and ISSS Board of Trustees&#8216; representative participated at #ISSS2018 and held a Chair of the session \u201cLeadership and Systemic Innovation: Socio-Technical Systems, Ecological Systems, and Evolutionary Systems Design\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hull.academia.edu\/HeleneFinidori\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Helene Finidori<\/a>, member at the BCSSS and leader of the BCSSS Research Group on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/de\/research\/fields-and-groups\/systems-science-and-pattern-literacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Systems Science and Pattern Literacy<\/a>, held a workshop on \u201cCo-exploring the Role of Patterns in Adapting the Original Spirit of General Systems Theory to the Needs of our Time: Towards Systems Literacy\u201d at which she also held a Chair. She, moreover, gave a talk on \u201cPatterns as Connectors of Multiple Realities\u201d. He held a Chair at two sessions on \u201cSocio-Ecological Systems\u201d and presented \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/2018\/opportunities-and-limits-of-an-eco-systems-view-beyond-socio-ecological-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Opportunities and Limits of an Eco-Systems View beyond Socio-Ecological Systems<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The ISSS and the BCSSS work in a close partnership since several years and we are happy that we were able to contribute to the 62<sup>nd<\/sup> edition of this great event again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The BCSSS was strongly represented at the #ISSS2018 \u2013 62nd Annual Meeting of the International Society for the Systems Science, which took place at the College of Engineering of the Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, United States from 22nd to 27th of July 2018.
