{"id":6515,"date":"2018-12-13T09:25:19","date_gmt":"2018-12-13T08:25:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/?p=6515"},"modified":"2019-03-12T13:37:43","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T12:37:43","slug":"international-participation-of-the-circular-economy-systems-research-group-strenghtens-bcsss-ties-in-science-governance-and-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/de\/2018\/international-participation-of-the-circular-economy-systems-research-group-strenghtens-bcsss-ties-in-science-governance-and-business\/","title":{"rendered":"International participation of the Circular Economy Systems Research Group strenghtens BCSSS ties in science, governance and business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After launching the newest Research Group of the BCSSS &#8222;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcsss.org\/research\/fields-and-groups\/circular-economy-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Circular Economy Systems<\/a>&#8222;, the affiliated persons were very active throughout autumn and winter so far.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Closing the Loop \u2013 A Circular Economy Revolution. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In September <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csr-and-communication.com\/en\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Karin Huber-Heim<\/a> joined the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thishumanworld.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this human world film festival<\/a>, hosted by the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) Vienna, in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Topkino Vienna, as a panellist. Together with other representatives Karin discussed the screened film \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.closingtheloopfilm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Closing the Loop<\/a>\u201d, a documentary film about the Circular Economy Revolution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Circular Economy and Creative Industry. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In October leaders of the Circular Economy Systems Research Group joint the <a href=\"https:\/\/circulareconomy.europa.eu\/platform\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP)<\/a> meeting in Brussels from October 22<sup>nd<\/sup> to October 24<sup>th<\/sup> in 2018. This second meeting of the Coordination Group of the ECESP provided its members with an opportunity to discuss the practical implementation of the Platform&#8217;s workplan, outline topics for the 2019 conference and develop new partnerships. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circularchange.com\/portfolio-item\/ladeja-godina-kosir\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ladeja Godina Ko\u0161ir<\/a>, representing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circularchange.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Circular Change<\/a> and the BCSSS, was elected as Coordination Group Chair of the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform (ECESP) of the European Commission and the European Economic and Social Committee for 2019. Karin and Ladeja, furthermore, proposed a new topic to be explored &#8211; Circular Economy &amp; Creative Industries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Circular Triangle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ladeja also joined the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sitra.fi\/en\/projects\/world-circular-economy-forum-2018\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF)<\/a> in Yokohama, Japan in October 2018 as part of the EU Delegation. She led the seminar \u201cThe Circular Triangle: Circular Economy, Circular Culture, Circular Change &#8211; Society as a Driving Force of Change\u201d for the authors of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nantien.edu.au\/about-us\/the-kyoto-manifesto-book-launch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Kyoto Manifesto for Global Economics<\/a> (Springer 2018). WCEF is bringing together more than 1000 experts, business leaders and policymakers to discuss and share the best circular economy solutions in the world. Ladeja was invited to contribute to the next book based on the Kyoto Manifesto.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CE Hotspot Scotland. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Karin and Ladeja both went to Glasgow, Scotland for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circulareconomyhotspot.scot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Circular Economy Hotspot 2018<\/a>, late October and early November 2018. The CE Hotspot Scotland was a major international event to showcase Scotland\u2019s progressive approach to developing a circular economy and the best of Scotland\u2019s growing circular businesses to a national and global audience. Karin and Ladeja attended the Hotspot particularly to pitch Slovenia as the 2020 Circular Hotspot venue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sustainability in Science. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Karin also joined the <a href=\"http:\/\/nachhaltigeuniversitaeten.at\/wissenschaft-im-wandel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201cScience in Transition\u201d (WiW) Conference of the Alliance for Sustainable Universities<\/a> as a panellist, on November 13<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Circular Future. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On November 15<sup>th<\/sup> Karin joined the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkdif.co\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Disruptive Innovation Festival 2018<\/a>, the world&#8217;s largest online festival of ideas, organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ellenmacarthurfoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ellen MacArthur Foundation<\/a>. The event took place in Vienna, jointly organized with the Circular Economy Club Vienna, and was webstreamed all around the globe.&nbsp;She contributed at the panel and discussed opportunities and challenges of a \u201cCircular Future\u201d with her fellow panellists as well as the audience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BCSSS representation at the EU Environment Action Programme. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The BCSSS representation at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.umweltdachverband.at\/inhalt\/expert-meetings-for-the-development-of-an-action-plan-on-the-8eap-and-future-eu-and-national-environmental-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">8th EU Environment Action Programme \u2013 Shaping the Future of EU Environmental Policy-Workshops<\/a> in Hainburg, Austria was remarkable, as not only <a href=\"http:\/\/www.circularchange.com\/coffee-niko-korpar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Niko Korpar<\/a>, a representative of the Circular Economy Systems research group, was present but also BCSSS Managing Director Stefan Blachfellner. Niko spoke about Circular Change at the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Further participations in Poland and Georgia.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ladeja also attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/oees.pl\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3rd Open Eyes Summit<\/a>, 20 &#8211; 21 November in Krakow, Poland. Open Eyes Economy considers itself an intellectual and implementation movement focusing on values, economy and society both on the regional and global level. Ladeja was invited to participate in a dialogue on Circular Cities.<br \/>\nShe also attended an event by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economicforum.ge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Local Economic Development (LED)<\/a> Forum on the \u201cEconomic Power of Cities\u201d as a moderator on November 29<sup>th <\/sup>in Tbilisi, Georgia.
