The General Assembly of the BCSSS has elected a new Board of Directors, a virtuous composition of diverse expertise for the BCSSS

We are pleased to announce the newly elected Board of Directors of the BCSSS. In the General Assembly of members, on April 13th, 2018 a promising composition of high level scientists was appointed as the new Managing Board.

We are proud to report Alexander Laszlo as our newly elected President and we are delighted that we have been able to gain his professional and personal competences for the BCSSS. Alexander is, inter alia, an expert in system thinking, knowledge management, and sustainability. He is the Founding Director of the Doctoral Program in Leadership and Systemic Innovation at the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology (ITBA, Argentina) and functioned as the 57th President and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the International Society for the Systems Science (ISSS, United Kingdom), now working with the Laszlo Institute of New Paradigm Research in Italy and Argentina.

Additionally, Felix Tretter, who has been active at the BCSSS as a Fellow since 2015, is the newly elected Vice President and we are very pleased that he enriches the board with his expertise. Felix, who also serves as president of the German Society for Human Ecology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Humanökologie), is an Austrian psychologist and psychiatrist who dedicates his work to describing psychosocial problems from a cybernetics and systems perspective.

The post of Vice Treasurer was taken over by Nikolas Popper and we are excited that he accepted the responsibility. He works as a mathematician, a science journalist, company founder, and expert in applied modelling, simulation and decision making – to name a few. Among his many impactful involvements in Austria, he is responsible for the K-Project DEXHELPP – Decision Support for Health Policy and Planning: Methods, Models and Technologies based on Existing Health Care Data.

Jeanette Müller has also joined the Board in her position as Vice Secretary and supports the BCSSS with her multifarious professional competences. Jeanette is a conceptual artist and a political scientist working on the interfaces of science and art, focusing on the creation of transcultural spaces of communication and global learning.

We also welcome Ray Ison, who now became, after his support as a BCSSS Scientific Council member and 59th President of the ISSS, an active member of the BCSSS Board of Directors. The Professor at the Systems Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics at the Open University (OU, United Kingdom) focusses his scientific activities on applied practical cyber-systemic thinking for governing the Anthropocene.

Furthermore, we are thankful to Thomas Wallner, Professor at the Applied University of Upper Austria, and Thomas Fundneider, founder and CEO of theLivingCore for their ongoing long-lasting support as Treasurer and Secretary in the Board of Directors of the BCSSS.

On behalf of all the BCSSS Members we wish to thank the former Board Members for the past collaboration and for laying the foundation for our good work. We are very happy to inform you about these innovations and wish all new Board Members a good and successful start at the BCSSS. Thanks to this diverse composition we are awaiting an exciting future and we are looking forward to the forthcoming cooperation.
